My name is Thomas Sow, also known as Demba. I am originally from Mauritania, and I have been living in Turkey for the past five years. I am a Computer Engineer with a Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence, an IELTS-certified English teacher, and a polyglot fluent in six languages: Fulani, English, French, Arabic, Turkish, and Portuguese. My passion is connecting cultures through language and travel. I have lived in Portugal, explored Europe, and traveled across Africa and Asia, always learning, teaching, and meeting new people. Teaching began as a hobby but quickly became a career that I truly love. I enjoy it so much that sometimes I forget I am working. Over the years of teaching in Turkey, I discovered something very important. Many Turkish students are timid and shy when it comes to speaking English. This is not because they lack knowledge. In fact, most students have a strong vocabulary and a solid understanding of grammar. The real issue comes from an education system that focuses heavily on theory, such as grammar drills and memorization, with very little speaking practice. After more than ten years of learning English in this way, many students lose confidence. They understand English well, but when it is time to speak, they freeze. A common phrase they use is Anliyorum ama konusamiyorum, meaning I understand, but I cannot speak. I described this phenomenon in my 4 BOOKS SERIES (IELTS MASTERY), The Silent Knowledge Trap which simply means, English is present in the mind but not accessible in real communication. To help students overcome this, I have developed practical strategies to rebuild confidence, unlock speaking ability, and make English a natural part of daily life. I would be happy to meet you in a free session. It may be the moment when your first spoken word breaks the silence and begins your English journey in a meaningful way.
